…glorious African Autumn day.
Was woken up this morning, unexpectedly, but fortuitously. Now I get to actually be awake the whole day instead of only half a day, causing my sleeping patterns to fall by the wayside again.
Did have a lovely couch nap again yesterday afternoon! Right after me and the kid got our meat off the braai, it started raining, and what a lovely storm it was too! Everything is sparkly clean this morning, dust settled, earth grateful for the water it absorbed. And of course, the rain made the couch nap all that much better.
Then the eldest and his partner showed up, and he made popcorn for our planned movie evening. Our movie of choice last night was Frankenweenie. What a cute movie! I’ve been wanting to see it since I saw the trailer while the Porra was still a blip on my radar – not quite the kind of movie he would watch, so I waited for it to be available on the DVD, and I don’t regret watching it. Not quite a kiddies movie – the monsters they have in there is quite monstrous. It had all the hallmarks of a Mary Shelley Gothic, complete with righteous mob and burning windmill and creepy scientists with strange experiments, but a cute movie nevertheless.
We did observe earth hour in our own small way, with only the radio and the fridge switched on, and candles on the table to accompany our chat.
All in all a lovely evening, surrounded by my boys, always good company, full stomach, good entertainment – made a good change from the usual.
And now it’s Sunday again, suppose I really have to get to doing the laundry today!
Hope your day is a good one!
When I was six months pregnant with my third child, my three year old came into the room when I was just getting ready to get into the shower.
She said, “Mummy, you are getting fat!”
I replied, “Yes, honey, remember Mummy has a baby growing in her tummy.”
“I know,” she replied, “but what’s growing in your bum?”
