Daily prompt.

Today they have a topic right up my alley ๐Ÿ˜‰

A genie has granted your wish to build your perfect space for reading and writing. Whatโ€™s it like?

Go here for more entries.

My perfect reading room.

Will be filled with books. Of all kinds.

It will have a double story, with a balcony running around the wall in the middle.

A ladder on wheels to get to all the books, withย a spiral staircase to get to the upper balcony.

The ceiling will soar to the heavens and the walls will have a window for every bookshelf.

A ย huge fireplace with a hammered bronze fire shield, with a fire crackling cheerfully , surrounded by deep, red, leather wing back chairs.

I can picture a spindly legged women’s writing desk, and one of those big writing desks with the top that rolls over it to cover your pens and quills and inkwells. A bulky thing, made to store your correspondence and diaries and deepest thoughts.

Inside the writing desk, a Mont Blanc pen will rest in it’s pride of place, and a green shaded writing lamp will be situated just so. ready to be of service should you want to write anything down.

It will have heavy, dark red velvet curtains that can be drawn against the night, and opened to the morning.

There will be a Baby Grand stationed just so, and a hidden sound system for listening.

It will have brilliantly coloured works of art on the walls that’s not covered by books, withย gorgeous, flowing statues in alcoves and at least one flowering plant.

Walking into my perfect reading room will be like walking back in time.

And it will be the place I could gladly spend the rest of my life in.

    • It’s the simple things in life that means so much Col ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Don’t need a palace.
That room would basically be the whole house ๐Ÿ˜‰
Just need a bed, a loo and a shower stashed away in a corner somewhere ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I do see it. The first time I read Harry Potter I pictured something like that being their dormitories, or common rooms. Love the wingback chairs, I wanna own one. Though there should only be one. You can add another when light and airy arrives. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • There can be, only one.

      Per corner ๐Ÿ˜‰

Go watch Warehouse 13. Check out James’s room stored at the warehouse. There’s a wing back in there of bloody NOTE!! If there were two of those in one room – would not even notice it ๐Ÿ˜‰
