…started with a serious bang!!!
I suppose that’s what they’re supposed to do – make you aware, good and proper, that the weekend, and for me, the extended holiday, is really over 😉
Mom is still in a bit of a mood after the episode on Saturday, coupled with all the other things biting her arse these days, and there’s not a single thing I or my sister can do about it. I’m not entirely certain what she needs from us. Must we stop treating her as just a normal person? Start treating her as if she can break at any second, and therefore, should never be berated, or tiffed with or differed from? This is an untenable situation, because when mom’s pissed off, the whole world knows about it. She’s like a silent storm, decimating everything in it’s path with silences and long suffereing looks. Just as well she does not live with me, we’d have killed one another within the first month!
She’s only seeing the doctor on Friday, so the whole week spent until she can get the sympathy she wants. Or the reassurance she needs from somebody that knows how to give it to her.
As for me, I’m at work, bright, and relatively early, since it seems that traffic conspired this morning. Oh well, at least I was not late, and that’s all that really matters.
My aunt, she of the Christian Missionary persuasion has told my mom to give me money so I can cover the arrears on my bond. Something she did not need to do, but that I’m very grateful for. According to her, I should spend all my energy on getting my bond paid up – the world’s economy is not looking too good. And even if you can’t eat your house, at least you will have a place to live in, and maybe a place to generate some kind of income should the fudge really hit the fan. I have to say thank you. But that seems wholly inadequate for everything she’s done for me these past few months. I shall be penning an e mail during the day today. Hope I am able to find words to convey my feelings.
Think I’m going to make another cup of tea now, and have a slice of the chocolate French toast I made yesterday 😉
Hope the Monday treats you splendidly!!
Words of Wisdom
The wise old Mother Superior from county Tipperary was
dying. The nuns gathered around her bed trying to make her
comfortable. They gave her some warm milk to drink, but she
refused it. Then one nun took the glass back to the kitchen.
Remembering a bottle of Irish whiskey received as a gift
the previous Christmas, she opened and poured a generous amount
into the warm milk.
Back at Mother Superior’s bed, she held the glass to her
lips. Mother Superior drank a little, then a little more.
Before they knew it, she had drunk the whole glass down to
the last drop.
“Mother”, the nuns pleaded, “Please give us some wisdom
before you die”. She raised herself up in bed with a pious
look on her face and said, “Don’t sell that cow”.
