The weekend…

…is done.

Did anything exiting happen?

Well, no, not really.

Washed the washing, fixed a few things in the house, watched the son get ready for an evening out – always a major production that!!

Something funny did happen during the week though.

One of the guys that was retrenched invited the group that he used to sit with for lunch.

Only me andΒ V could go.

no worries – we go there.

They’re building themselvves a house from cob – mud and straw.

Going to look so lovely when it’s done – I would not mind in the slightest to build something like that!!

The amount of quirkyness you can build into the walls, not being bound to brick sizes and shapes.

The sky is the absolute limit!!

They’re living in a tent while the building is happening – not so cool, but hey – they are woking towards a dream, so by all means.

Anyhow.

V does not eat chicken.

Apparently he grew up on a farm where he had to help slaughter the chickens and then eat them for supper kind of thing.

So, he avoids chicken completely.

We sit down for lunch at A’s spot – 3 bowls on the table.

Salad.

Breadrolls.

Chicken.

No butter for the rolls, just mayo and sweet chillie sauce.

So, V gamely puts some of the salad on a roll, adds some sauce to it, and eats.

I’m sitting next to him – could not look at him for fear of starting to laugh πŸ˜‰

It was funny, but I guess you had to have been there πŸ˜‰

I was going to offer to drive us to Mickey D’s so he could get somehing to eat – and then the laughing started.

I’m still giggling when I think about it πŸ˜‰

So, in a week when life did not look too good for me, there was at least some levity and a few laughs to be had…

Hope the week starting will have more of the same.

Long days and pleasant nights…

    • Absolutely Col!!
As for the straw house – it’s a surprisingly sturdy construction – the walls are at least 3 brick widths thick.
Once their place is done I will go back and take a picture – I fell in love with it πŸ˜‰

      Did you get my haiku’s?
I will do a proper post of them tonight – if you think they’re worth the effort!!

  1. It’s always funny in cases like that. It appeals to my sense of humour. I would have had to leave the room. πŸ™‚

  2. Would really like to see the house πŸ™‚ I am not too fond of chicken myself, grew up on a chicken farm. Go figure πŸ˜†

    • I’ve made arrangements to go there next week to take pics.
If I had money to buy a plot of land somewhere in the bush, that’s what I would build with…
